Readers of the May edition of Prism, in-house journal of Strathclyde University, could have been forgiven for thinking that it was a month late with an April Fool joke. Tucked away on the back page was a report of a “celebration of entrepreneurship” which featured one Randy Komisar.

Anyone with the impression that this might have been a reference to an oversexed Communist Party apparatchik could not have been more wrong. Komisar is described as “a Silicon Valley virtual CEO” and is ex-CEO of Lucas Arts Entertainmments.

He addressed the event by video link from California on the subject of “the true essence of entrepreneurship - creating value while creating change”, a subject less than dear to the hearts of his former Soviet namesakes.
