This material will be useful mainly in the 14 to 19 curriculum, supplying case study notes through the medium of history. Societies and curricula neglect this sort of approach at their peril, because without it people do not understand how they have got to be where they are now. It will inform current affairs lessons in general studies - what bets on an Iraq question in 2003? - or religious studies work on how religions and cultures intertwine.
