BIGKEYS EARLY LEARNING SYSTEM. Keytools Ltd. pound;109 plus VAT. www.keytools.com
This alternative keyboard, suitable for almost all models of computer and operating systems, is designed to assist early learners at the beginning of letter recognition and as an aid to disabled learners of all ages. The keyboard is simplified to one row of numbers, three rows of letters, a space bar, which doubles as a shift key, and a super size (4.5 cm square) return button. The four large arrow keys can also be used as maths operation keys: +, - , =.
The keyboard is fractionally larger than the standard size, but the keys are 2cm square, great for those with visual impairment or motor control problems. There is a choice of eight different layouts in black and white or colour, QWERTY or ABC layout, upper or lower case. A handy, wipe-clean overlay or removable stickers can provide alternative layouts.
Our BigKeys is already in great demand and has opened up ICT opportunities for our younger pupils.
