The TestVQ service, which is also being introduced south of the border for NVQs, enables students quickly and easily to download onto their mobile phone multiple choice practice tests to check their course theory knowledge. Tests can also be accessed online.
For a low fixed price, tests are downloaded, like a ringtone, using virtually any type of mobile phone. This allows students to practise as much as they like, whenever and wherever they are. The same tests are available via the TestVQ website from any computer with broadband.
Developed by Award Learning Services, the tests provide thousands of sample multiple-choice questions as well as providing feedback on those questions incorrectly answered, said to be a unique feature.
Tests are available for a range of courses and levels, such as hospitality, professional cookery, hairdressing and beauty therapy, and align with awards from the Scottish Qualifications Authority as well as other bodies such as City and Guilds, the Vocational Training Charitable Trust and the Edexcel exam board.
Award Learning Services claims that using TestVQ significantly increases the rate of learning and extends the student’s field of knowledge, resulting in higher achievement rates and fewer retakes.
The service is paid for by the student, college or employer. Students can buy a complete set of course tests or pay as they go, buying individual tests from pound;2.50 plus VAT. Colleges and other training organisations can get discounted rates depending on the number of user licences they purchase.
