David Miller had problems remembering which exam body he was chairing in a succession of events recently. Within a week he had attended an induction meeting for his new charges at the Scottish Qualifications Authority and presided over farewell dinners for the Scottish Vocational Education Council and the Scottish Examination Board.
A nursery rhyme came to his rescue. He told the SEB gathering in Edinburgh’s Signet Library (“Cygnet”, in the Record’s spelling): This little piggy went to market (that was Scotvec) This little piggy stayed at home (the Exam Board) This little piggy had money (Scotvec) This little piggy had none (Exam Board) And this little piggy went wee-wee-wee all the way home (the SQA).
