If you are searching for a resource to develop and enhance KS1 word problem skills then look no further. What’s the Problem? offers 30 complete lessons, divided into autumn, spring and summer terms, directly linked to planning objectives for Years 1 and 2.

The children’s pages provide open and closed, one and two-step worded questions while the teacher’s pages provide useful background information and ideas to support effective teaching. Answers are provided alongside points for consideration while marking or informally assessing the lesson.

There is also a very informative section for maths subject leaders including tips for developing a whole-school approach to word problems, strategy exemplars and a look at common errors and misconceptions.

This excellent resource is a professional and intelligent collection that will impact on your maths teaching and raise standards.

A maths week is a rich and valuable opportunity to observe maths in action, to perform and to celebrate maths. A week-long event can inspire children and teachers, place maths in a wider context, raise standards across the curriculum, be an opportunity for staff development and strengthen links with the community.

Co-ordinating a maths week can be daunting unless you know what to do.

Maths All Week comes to the rescue and offers a structured guide answering all your questions. This terrific resource contains a 20-page section on planning, with image-led case studies and an A to Z of ideas that would fill a year. Maths co-ordinators will welcome it with open arms.
