Right to be fired

A lecturer sacked for working in his own business while off ill and receiving sick pay from the college has lost his unfair dismissal claim. A hearing before an employment tribunal in Glasgow, which lasted 10 days, found that Clydebank College was right to fire Kenneth McCann, 52, after private investigators compiled a DVD of evidence which apparently showed he had been working at a garage business in which he had an interest.
