A British nursery has been named a rights-respecting school by Unicef, the United Nations’ children’s fund. The award, given to Perry Beeches nursery in Birmingham, recognises schools which show a commitment to children’s rights and mutual respect among young people. Perry Beeches recognised the children’s rights by giving each pupil a named coat peg. They are also encouraged to respect cultural and ethnic differences. This is the first time a British nursery has won the award.
