Rise in fees and debt

Sixth formers starting university this year expect to pay a record Pounds 33,512 for a three-year degree course, a survey found this week.

This is a rise of pound;5,000 on last year and is partly down to an increase in tuition fees from pound;1,175 to up to pound;3,000 a year from September.

Students can expect to graduate with debts of around pound;15,000, an increase of pound;1,000, the Natwest Student Money Matters survey found.
