Ministers are considering making sprinkler systems mandatory for schools because of the risk of arson attacks. Dr Brian Iddon, Labour MP for Bolton, South-east, proposed the idea in the House of Commons after MPs discussed an arson at Brigshaw high in Leeds, now being rebuilt at a cost of pound;8 million.
