I have been convinced by the Government’s arguments about the class-size issue and by the pronouncement by the Office for Standards in Education that it is the quality of teaching alone which matters.

I am a very good teacher, currently teaching about 250 students each week. I now intend to maximise my efficiency by teaching all of them on Monday morning thus freeing the other four-and-a-half days for consultancy work, directorships and the like.

Following the lead of my parliamentary role models, I shall not be declaring these additional earnings.
