A PRIMARY school in Somerset has apologised for publishing a pupil’s poem about cannabis in its newsletter.

Uphill primary near Weston-super-Mare printed the controversial verse, ‘Penguins’, because it had won a poetry competition. The poem contained the lines: “We are the penguins smoking pot.We are the penguins, we don’t like it hot.” Head David Edwards said he had written an apology to parents. “This was an oversight on the part of the school, and the poem led to some concern among parents,” he said.
