A row over a council’s decision to consider non-Welsh speakers for a top education post is still raging - nine months after a Welsh speaker was appointed. The Welsh Language Board launched an investigation after Carmarthenshire re-advertised the pound;100,000 a year vacancy for an education and children’s services director without making Welsh a requirement. The WLB claims the council is being unco-operative, but it says it chose the best man for the job - Welsh-speaker Vernon Morgan.
