Forty schools from across Scotland attended the inaugural Scottish Schools Sevens competition at Murrayfield. Rob Moffat, Scotland's Sevens coach, is confident it will become an established part of the schools' calendar.

"It's great to see a real mix of schools entering the competition. What we have tried to do is give the kids as many games as possible, so we had five different competitions (for a cup, shield, bowl, plate and quaich) after the pool matches," he said.

"We've been very impressed by the enthusiasm shown for this competition and hope the kids had a great day out, with the chance to score tries, handle the ball and tackle."
