(Photograph) - These youngsters, members of a 26-strong party of fourth and fifth-year pupils, need no convincing of the merits of science. Last Friday they jetted out from Glasgow to spend a week at the Nasa Space School in Houston, Texas.

They are from schools all over Scotland and are students of the Scottish Space School Foundation, which is supported by Nasa and Careers Scotland.

To be chosen for the Space School they completed a distance learning programme developed by Nasa to supplement their Standard grade physics, chemistry and maths. Christina Allon, of Careers Scotland, said: “The Space School is an opportunity to see the skills they are developing in science and maths put into action in one of the world’s leading centres of technology.”
