A primary teacher who was accused of taking unjustified time off work has been cleared of unacceptable professional conduct.
England’s General Teaching Council heard that Winifred Stooks, who taught at Victoria Road primary in Ashford, Kent, was off from November 2002 to June 2003. Her injuries ranged from a fractured thumb to being assaulted by a pupil and injuring a foot at work.
The disciplinary hearing in Birmingham this week heard that most of the time she was off work was covered by doctors’ notes.
Mrs Stooks was dismissed in June 2003 and has since worked as a supply teacher.
