Safety audit for schools

The Accounts Commission, which undertakes value-for-money audits of local authorities and the Health Service, is preparing a study of security risks in schools.

The commission's annual report, published last week, revealed that the decision was taken on the day before the Dunblane tragedy and said its study would go beyond access issues to include vandalism and fire risks.
