In this National Year of Reading http:www.yearofreading.org.uk the National Literacy Trust at http:www.literacytrust.org.uk has a useful database of reviews, reports and news. You can search for words and phrases. The “What works” section describes projects with evidence-based claims to have improved pupils’ literacy. Reading Recovery, the Knowsley Reading Project, and the Bradford Better Reading Partnership are among about 12 recent examples. For a direct link to the database, avoiding the busy welcome page, type http:www.literacytrust. org.ukDatabase index.html into the location box at the top of your web browser. The “What works” item is at http:www.literacytrust.org.ukDatabasewhatworks.html
