The interview with Chris Woodhead asserted that the Office for Standards in Education has contradicted the National Foundation for Educational Research’s costing of the salary bill of reducing class size in the early years.
Not true. OFSTED have informed us that their estimate of the salary bill was the same as ours. The difference between the OFSTED figure quoted (Pounds 170 million) and ours (Pounds 60 million) is due entirely to the fact that OFSTED included building and transport costs in their estimate.
