The leading paediatrician who brought sanity on the matter to the Edinburgh International Science Festival (TESS, April 17) deserves applause from all who have doubted the wisdom of "professionals" rushing into schools as the first response by education authorities keen to show they are well prepared and caring.
There has to be a balanced response according to the nature and scale of tragedy.
Dunblane probably needed counsellors. Schools that have lost a child in an accident at home or on the roads, or where an empty classroom has been burned out, surely do not.
