The Whingeing Poem

“Mum!”“Yes!”“I want a Teddy!” “Why?”“Because I want One, that’s why!” “But you already have Four!” “So I want one more!” “You have got a talking Teddy and a red Teddy And a flying Teddy, and a Soft Teddy too why do you want one more?”

“Ben’s got five so I Want five too!” “All right what sort of Teddy Do you want?” “Amy’s got one with one Ear, so I want one with One ear!”

Sarah has produced what is in effect a fine comedy sketch satirising Spoilt Brat Syndrome. I really like it when children unmask human situations through dialogue without having to make a direct comment or didactic statement. I am particularly fond of the absurd “Teddy with one ear.”
