Saving, prospering, but not so much sponsoring

I should like to correct two inaccuracies in a generally excellent piece about the Europa centre in Havering (TES, September 29). While Havering is in one sense an “Essex suburb”, it is an education authority in its own right, and one of the larger London boroughs.

The balance of funding of the Europa Centre, after the local authority’s contribution has been taken into account, is made up from fees and income generated from the services which the Europa Centre provides to schools and local residents and not, as stated in the article, from sponsorship. The generous support we have received in sponsorship, in particular from Save Prosper, represents an extremely welcome one-off supplementary source of funds.
