New 'Educating...' series to be set in Welsh comprehensive
Staff and students at a school in Wales have been chosen to star in the next series of the award-winning "Educating..." documentaries.
Channel 4 has teamed up with Willows High School in Cardiff for the latest fly-on-the-wall programme, which follows on from similar shows in Essex, Yorkshire and East London.
Headteacher Joy Ballard, who took over the top job three years ago, said she was "delighted" when Channel 4 approached them.
She said: "Willows has been on an incredible journey over the past three years and has been transformed from one of the worst-performing schools in the country to a school that we are very proud of.
"Our pupils are amazing; warm, friendly and funny with such incredible potential and our teachers are talented, committed and always prepared to go that extra mile to ensure that our pupils achieve, no matter what their starting points.
"We believe that the relationships between our staff and pupils are extraordinary and want the series to show how so many of our pupils are beginning to fulfil their life potential."
The nine-episode series will air next autumn.
Executive producer David Clews said: "You can really feel the charm and character of the place as soon as you walk through the gates and start talking to the students. We really are excited about making Educating in Wales."
Previous series of the programme have made household names of stars such as Mr Drew, Mr Burton (pictured) and Musharaf "Mushy" Asghar.
