Win £10K for your school with the 2014 Pupil Premium Awards

The Department for Education's 2014 Pupil Premium Awards – in association with TES – are now open for entries.

The awards, which will be worth up to £10,000 to each of three overall winners, aim to reward schools that make the best and most innovative use of the extra funding they receive from the pupil premium initiative.

The best primary, secondary and special school will each receive the top prize, while three runners-up will pick up £3,000. Infant schools are welcome to enter and will be considered with primary schools.

In addition, regional winners will be invited to a reception in London in the summer, where the national and runner-up prizes will be announced.

Lib Dem schools minister David Laws (see video) explained: "We launched the awards to make sure that the profile of the pupil premium in the [education] system was as high as possible.

"We wanted to identify the best schools at using in the pupil premium... so we can spread best practice."

They will be judged by an independent panel of education experts, co-chaired by Dr John Dunford, the Pupil Premium Champion, and Dr Kevan Collins of the Education Endowment Foundation.

The 2014 Pupil Premium Awards are delivered by a partnership between the Department for Education and TES and any state funded school in England can nominate itself. The deadline for entries is midday on 7 April 2014.
