A troubled Birmingham sixth-form college looks certain to be saved from closure after governors at a city further education college passed a resolution for merger this week. St Philip’s RC Sixth-Form College, whose management was criticised in a scathing report by the Further Education Funding Council last November, will become part of South Birmingham College from July 31.
