A 15-year-old has been arrested after police were called to an Edinburgh school, following reports of a disturbance

Schoolboy arrested after teacher injured

A schoolboy has been arrested after a teacher was allegedly hit in the face by a book.

Police were called to a school in Edinburgh on Thursday following reports of a disturbance.

Officers recovered a knife during a search at the school.

Police Scotland said a 15-year-old was arrested at around 12.35pm on Thursday in connection with a disturbance after a male teacher suffered a minor injury.

A spokeswoman said: "An offensive weapon was discovered during a subsequent search and inquiries are ongoing into this."

A spokesman for Edinburgh City Council said: "The school is cooperating fully with Police Scotland following an incident at the school yesterday."
