Schools were evacuated in three separate regions of England this morning after they received telephone bomb threats, according to reports.

Fourteen schools - including four in London, six in the West Midlands and four in Cornwall - had to be evacuated this morning.

It comes as five high schools in Paris were also evacuated following similar threats made over the telephone today.

Police confirmed that they were investigating the incidents but intelligence experts believed that there was “no credible threat.”

Last week, four schools in the West Midlands were evacuated because of a security scare.

In December, more than 1,000 Los Angeles schools attended by 640,000 students were closed following a hoax bomb threat.

One of the schools affected today, Bristnall Hall Academy in Oldbury, West Midlands, said on the microblogging site Twitter:

The police have checked the building and it is safe. The academy will reopen from 11am for all students. The learning must continue

Meanwhile, another nearby school, Oldbury Academy, wrote:

Due to a threat that has compromised the safety of students and staff, We have evacuatedthe school this morning. Students sent home.

A number of schools said that they would remain closed for the rest of the day.
