2001 may be the year that Britain embarks on a Science Odyssey, writes Sarah Cassidy. Ministers are considering dedicating next year - immortalised in Stanley Kubrick’s film 2001: A Space Odyssey to the promotion of science and technology. They hope the year wll build on the success of the National Year of Reading and Maths Year 2000 with a series of initiatives to increase awareness among pupils, parents and schools. The Association for Science Education has been asked to carry out a feasibility study.
