‘Hedgerow’ winter workshop

What is it?

The Organic Milk Suppliers Co-operative (OMSCo) will be offering free workshops, led by “safari leader” Finlay McLaren, to encourage children aged seven to 11 to engage with conservation issues. The programme will visit schools across the country.

How can it be used?

The centrepiece will be an interactive “hedgerow”, with which pupils can create their own inhabitants or become explorers searching out the wonders of the natural world. This year there will be a special focus on bats.

The workshops can be tied into many elements of the key stage 2 curriculum: art, geography, history and much more can be catered for through the hands-on experience OMSCo offers.

What else?

OMSCo has developed supporting documents outlining subject link-ups, which are available from the website. For more information or to book a Winter Workshop for your school, visit www.teach-organic.org.uk or contact Gill Crane on 07920 057377.
