REGARDING the brilliant cover picture of Up-Helly-Aa in the issue of January 28, we do not drag the galley to the harbour and set it alight, as the caption suggested.
It is burned in splendour on dry land, after the 800 or so guizers have surrounded it and thrown their burning torches into the middle of it.
There are much smaller versions of Up-Helly-Aa held i country districts at different times in the year, and one or two of them burn their galleys in the water, but not the Lerwick one.
It may seem a small matter to complain about, but I have always thought the reporting in The TES Scotland to be very good - now a little doubt will occasionally creep in...
