Scots Confucius Classrooms

Chinese language and culture should become more prominent in schools, thanks to a new online resource.

Confucius Classrooms was launched last week in Beijing during a meeting between Learning and Teaching Scotland and the Hanban, the Office of Chinese Language Council International.

Bernard McLeary, chief executive of LTS, and Kay Livingston, head of its international education department, signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese education officials to work on Scotland's version of Confucius Classrooms.

The resource will offer teachers a place to access training and continuing professional development opportunities and to share their experiences, no matter where they are.

It will also be used within Glow, the schools intranet, to allow teachers to take advantage of Glow Meet, the video-conferencing facility, and Glow Groups, to make links with Chinese schools and work together within a safe and secure environment.
