PHYSICS NOW! 11-14. By Peter D Riley, John Murray. Student’s book pound;9.99. Teacher’s Resource pound;35

Latest in the key stage 3 scheme, Physics NOW! is well written and illustrated in full colour. I particularly like the historical examples of the development of ideas in physics; useful for teaching the newer components of AT1. The pages are well designed and to the point. The teacher’s resource book provides activities and photocopiable work sheets to support the theory covered in the textbook. In addition, there are end of chapter tests with answers and two tests that could be used as preparation for SATs or 13-plus exams. Recommended for higher attaining students.

Geoff Hayward is lecturer in science education at Oxford University Department of Educational Studies
