Security alert at school

A high school has appointed a security guard to patrol its grounds after an attack on a pupil and a member of staff.

Stowupland high, Suffolk, acted after an ex-student, who is 17 and cannot be named for legal reasons, allegedly punched a pupil and grabbed a teacher.

Martin Ward, deputy general secretary of the Association of School and College Leaders, said: "We are likely to see more of it due to the number of schools where our members are being attacked by people who should not be on the premises at all."
