Semi-literate are not fit to inspect

The fact that the Office for Standards in Education apologised to Broadmead nursery and infant school in Croydon, Surrey (TES, April 23) for sending an uncorrected report containing numerous spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors instead of the proof-read, corrected version, surely misses the point.

The report should not have needed correcting.

What right does an Ofsted inspector, who is plainly semi-literate at best, have to judge the teaching of writing in this establishment as “unsatisfactory”?
