The seminars at this year’s Education Show are split into six themes in six different venues around the conference halls and “villages”.

Leadership and school management

For headteachers, deputies and education officers, with presentations from the DfES, NAHT, SHA, ATL, the Specialist Schools Trust and QCA in Theatre C.

Special Needs

Fifteen presentations on special needs teaching at Theatre B in the Special Needs Village. Subjects include classroom management, ICT, PE, dyslexia and working with parents.

Curriculum

Presentations on practical ideas for teaching many aspects of the curriculum for most age groups in Theatre A.

Keynote speakers

Sponsored presentations in the largest venue, Concourse Theatre D, on bullying, writing and literacy, thinking skills, classroom practice and leadership.

Conferences

Theatre F in the Concourse Suite will hold a series of half-day conferences hosted by the English, science, history and geography associations.

Vocational and work-related learning

Two seminars related to the construction industry in Seminar Room E in the Gallery Suite.

The show includes more than 80 seminars and five half-day conferences.

These conferences are a new feature, providing an opportunity for the national associations for science, English, geography and history to present new approaches.

The science conference looks at ways to include contemporary science in lessons, including ethical issues and science in the news. The Geography Association will consider “creative geography” using digital imaging and eco-footprints. The Historical Association looks at ways to encourage active learning, such as role-play, handling artefacts and discussing issues from the point of view of people from the past.

The conference hosted by the National Association for the Teaching of English will discuss approaches to literacy, including whiteboards and the internet, and making links to other subjects through paintings, historical material, photographs and local geography.
