They are drowning in the depths of doom and gloom in Dumfries and Galloway, at least in the science labs. A report to the education committee on Wednesday detailed a watery picture. At Sanquhar Academy, water services in some labs are “poor generally”. At Wallace Hall Academy rooms 32 and 34 are similarly deprived and at Annan Academy the poor state of the roof is causing concern.

“When it rains, lab F26 is out of commission due to serious ingress of water and equipment is being ruined. F24 is similarly affected but not quite to the same extent. The irony is that these two labs are quite modern but, after roof repairs, will need renovation if water damage continues for much longer. ”

The author of the report is Wilson Flood.
