Seriously . . .

I am a mature student and have just completed the third year of my four-year BEd primary honours degree. I juggle caring for two children with travelling up to 300 miles a week to college, and working evenings and weekends.

Four years is a long time, but those of us who are committed, support each other and plough on to achieve our goals through sheer hard work. Why should we have to compete with people who do what I consider to be the bare minimum?

The DFEE should upgrade rates of pay, and support the profession with positive statements and constructive criticism. This will attract the “deadly serious” and keep away those who cannot be bothered to do the real thing.
