Let’s face it. Further education is more Paperwork Galore than Pussy Galore.

But hold on. If you thought the man who dreamt up secret agent James Bond had long gone, think again. FErret has discovered that Ian Fleming is working as a quality manager at Edexcel, the examination board. Sadly, however, this version can’t quite replicate the terse prose style of his namesake.

While the creator of 007 gave us “My name is Bond. James Bond”, Edexcel’s version, in a circular to colleges, penned the following: “The decision has thus been taken to commence the new external examination arrangements, which are designed to meet the independent assessment requirements of QCA for NQF level 4 programmes, from this September.”

Not exactly licensed to thrill.
