A HEADTEACHER who stole pound;80,000 from his school to fund a lavish lifestyle has been jailed for two years. Grahame Arnold dishonestly claimed expenses from the Thomas Adams school in Wem, Shropshire over a five-year period in order to pay off his spiralling credit card debts. Judge Mark Eades said that Arnold, a former spokesman for Shropshire Secondary Heads Association, had possessed a “dark side” grounded in a feeling that his extra committee work was not being properly recognised. Arnold, who quit his pound;45,000-a-year post in April 2000, had maintained that he had permission from an education officer to claim money for extra work.
