Shropshire - Police probe bank holiday vandalism

Forensic officers were called to Holmer Lake Primary School in Brookside, Telford, after the school was targeted by vandals over the bank holiday weekend.

Telford and Wrekin police are leading an investigation to search for clues and shed light on the incident, which has caused thousands of pounds of damage.

The wooden fence surrounding the school was demolished, and extensive damage was caused to the windows, roof and playground areas.

Police are investigating the possibility that there was an attempt to remove the lead tiles from the school's roof.

A police spokesman said: "There have been numerous cases in the area where schools have been targeted for their lead roofing, but this has decreased in the past year because the price of lead has decreased." GL.
