Single abuse case convicted

Just one of the 183 teachers accused of physical or sexual abuse last year has been convicted, figures from the National Association of Schoolmasters Union of Women Teachers show. To date, 111 of the accusations deemed serious enough to have been passed on to the police warranted no further legal action, two are going through court and 71 are outstanding. The union has received more than 45,000 postcards supporting a campaign to give accused teachers anonymity.
