An exhibition featuring six of Scotland’s most innovative artists has opened at Aberdeen Art Gallery.

Scotland and Venice 2007 features the work of Charles Avery (pictured), Henry Coombes, Louise Hopkins, Rosalind Nashashibi, Lucy Skaer and Tony Swain, all of whom represented the country at the prestigious Venice Biennale art exhibition. Curator Philip Long said: “Art from Scotland is at its most progressive and our chosen artists represent this position in the form of six highly individual talents.”

He described the six artists’ work as “diverse, exciting and unpredictable”.

The exhibition is the result of joint efforts by the Scottish Arts Council, the National Galleries of Scotland and the British Council, the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
