They don’t make them like this anymore: three lecturers at Jordanhill retired at the end of last month with eighty-eight and a half years’ joint service. They enlisted on the same day, September 1, 1973, and took early retirement on the same day, January 31.

“We must have been involved in the training of at least half of Scotland’s teachers of business educationeconomics, geography and history,” says Alastair Robinson, head of social studies.

Riding off into the sunset with him are Barry Finlayson, senior lecturer in business and computer education, and Ian McKellar, senior lecturer in social studies (history).
