Small reward

Talking of old lags insinuating their way into school brings us back to Brandon Lee. The manboy who fooled Bearsden Academy into accepting his school-age credentials has surfaced again in BBC Scotland's annual report.

The corporation congratulates itself on breaking the story on Reporting Scotland and trumpets the fact that Lee became an international story overnight. But there is no mention of Ian Small, the former Strathclyde press officer who took the story with him and broke it to his new masters when he arrived in the BBC press office. Legend has it that he received a personal letter of congratulation from Director-General John Birt.
