NINE pupils and a teacher were injured when a 79-year-old man reversed his car into their classroom. Harold Schofield’s new Citroen Xantia automatic was in reverse gear on Monday when he started the engine in his driveway, which is opposite Greenhall special school in Atherton, Wigan. The car, which he had never driven before, raced backwards and smashed through a classroom wall, showering pupils, aged 14 and 15, with glass and debris. Mr Schofield was unhurt.
