SNAP unhappy;Jotter

Any teacher who enrolled for the conference run by the Scottish Network for Able Pupils (SNAP) last week hoping to have a welcome break from the weans must have got a nasty surprise when they were greeted by smartly dressed and oh-so-friendly ushers and usherettes from Killermont primary.

The school is a neighbour of Glasgow University’s education campus, aka St Andrew’s College in Bearsden. Perhaps it was the joy of merger but Bart McGettrick, who is now dean of the university’s education faculty, was a tad too enthusiastic for some delegates when he talked of “the joy of seeing children smiling in the morning”.

Just when exactly did the eager dean last see the inside of a classroom?
