Snipping, sniping and a worthwhile career

I have been in the hairdressing industry for over 30 years, 20 of which have been in further education delivering precisely the type of "low-quality" qualifications Mr Linfoot so scathingly mentions.

I am also a chief examiner for one awarding body and senior consultant for another. Had I not achieved my "low-quality" credentials, I would not have had the pleasure of seeing many young people achieve their dreams. Hairdressing, for many, is a stepping stone into business, allowing learners who may otherwise have been put on the scrapheap the opportunity to own their own business and become functional members of society.

Don't tell me they should aspire to do better!
