The SNP and Holyrood

IF IT needed underlining, the debate over Higher Still demonstrates the importance of education policy in the new parliament. The hope is that Holyrood will leave behind the ya-boo behaviour of Westminster and develop a new style of politics.

In the belief that a better political culture can be created, the SNP have been pioneering People's Assemblies. They are not party political events - instead they allow concerned parties to debate key policy areas, and for their conclusions to then influence the policy-making process.

We are holding an education assembly at the Old Royal High School, Edinburgh, next Monday (December 7). Between 9.30am and 4pm, representatives from across the range of the educational sector will be debating the way forward.

Anyone interested in attending is most welcome.
