The new English Baccalaureate may be making waves at home, but it emerged this week that Britain has been quietly exporting its version of the original French Baccalaureate back across the Channel for 25 years. Pupils in France studying for their Baccalaureate - introduced by Napoleon in 1808 - can opt for a British version of the diploma by taking an additional bilingual history and geography course and sitting written and oral papers in English. It is offered jointly by the French Ministry of Education and University of Cambridge International Examinations.
