It must be tempting for any new minister to introduce a range of headline-grabbing initiatives. Mr Wilson appears to have resisted this temptation and to have his eye on long-term improvement rather than short-term gimmicks. Our overall impression: an excellent start and a welcome return to a partnership approach with local authorities.
